Aging

Crystals drift in frequency with age – after the first few years 1 part in 106/year is pretty typical. This can be an order of magnitude or more worse for cheaply made crystals, when crystals not intended for ovened operation are operated at an elevated temperature, or when crystals are operated at excessive dissipation levels.
